Types of Land Use Planning Procedures

Most jurisdictions break up their land use applications into categories or types. For example, within the City of Portland, land use procedures can either be a Type I, II, IIx or III.

Photo of meat on a barbecue As a general rule of thumb, Type I procedures are fairly straight forward and relatively fast and Type III procedures are more involved, may take longer and usually go before a hearing examiner or city or county council.
